Euan Macleod was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1956.
He attained a Diploma of Fine Arts (Painting) in 1979, and moved to Sydney in 1981.
He has had over 50 solo shows in Australia and New Zealand and had taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and internationally.
His work is represented in many private and public collections, including:
Te Papa Museum, New Zealand
The National Gallery of Australia
The Metropolitan Museum, New York.

Winner of the Blake Prize in 2006, with the painting Untitled Landscape with Figure
Winner of the Sulman Prize in 2001, with the painting titled Exquisite Corpse with Fire
Winner of the Archibald Prize 1999, with the painting titled Self portrait/head like a hole
Finalist in the Wynne Prize in 1998, 1999 and 2003

Euan Macleod and Monsoon Publishing
Euan Macleod has had a long association with Monsoon Publishing printmaking workshop in Townsville. He made several trips to the North Queensland where he has worked on etching plates. In the last three years he has made at least twenty etchings with Monsoon Publishing. The most recent series of prints were again made with printmaker, Ron McBurnie, Monsoon Director, but this time (at the National Art School) while McBurnie was visiting the artist in Sydney. Each of Macleod’s etchings have been printed by Sheree Kinlyside in Townsville at the Monsoon studio. |
